Judges Comment - "Understanding the value of consistent brand presentation is clearly evident with this packaging concept. A dazzling array of surfaces, substrates, pack shapes, and accessories are united in a remarkably well-connected graphic language. The singular colour scheme delivers a powerful statement in tandem with the omnipresent logo: whether featured as hero or rendered as wallpaper, the logo is the focus. The brand colour is matched well across a variety of materials: ribbons, tissue, seals and stickers, which all add sensory layers to myriad boxes, wraps and cartons".

NCI Packaging Fresh Food & Table Ready Award

This Award recognises the effort that goes into the design and manufacture of packs of fresh and/or pre-prepared food that is sold and kept in the fridge/freezer and is ready to eat without further preparation other than heating or dressing.

Judges Comment - "Designed to express the handmade nature of the product, a clever use of brown paper gives this range a fresh and natural appeal and certainly sets it apart in its category from competitors through the unbleached, uncoated top paper. Judges wanted to acknowledge the lateral thinking at work in such a solution. The application of brown paper to this range creates a distinctive departure from the norm in its category. Each pack is further embellished with a metallised stock self-adhesive label that is cleverly printed to allow the metallised stock to shine through and create a range of golden tones. The die-cut label highlights the logo, with colour used selectively to differentiate flavours across the range. The product remains visible through the underside of the pack to allow confident identification and selection".

This category rewards excellence in the design and visual quality of the label, working in conjunction with the other components as a finished product. Judging criteria included mandatory product information, aesthetics, technical innovation, functionality, durability and environmental considerations.

Judges Comment - "Judges noted that the jars used in this entry are identical to those used by another winner in this category, proving beyond doubt the transformative potential of a great label design. The objective here has been to enhance and communicate a premium gift persona. Typography, colour, graphic embellishments and texture combine to express a festive message. A metallized polypropylene stock was chosen for the label to provide a cost-effective alternative to foil stamping without any aesthetic compromise. Fine printing allows the metallic base to shine through in graphic highlights, and an overall matte varnish unifies the surface with a smooth sheen. This range accommodates all legal data expertly and unobtrusively. A die-cut label spans the lid creating a decorative cap label and a tamper-proof seal in one".
